Yes after experience I don’t feel comfortable at all in China .. maybe different for others .
I lived in HK so Shenzen was my weekend playground . This is probably 10 years back but it was a paradise .. don’t know what’s happening now but certainly cherish those days ..
Even HK had some real gems in some really tiny apartments ..
my preference in S E Asia is
Thailand
Phillipines
Vietnam
Cambodia
