What is your best Olympic moment??

With the London Olympic underway, I like to throw a question to all brothers: What is your best Olympic moment??

Mine was a long long time ago and probably only the Chinese brothers will feel this:

It was the 1984 LA Olympic, it was the first time ever the People's Republic of China had sent a team to compete in the Olympics.

I was in Sydney at the time, watching the opening ceremony on TV and it got to the segment of the athletes entering the Pasadena Stadium and the commentator said: Now this is a truly historical moment in the Olympics:

Here comes a quarter of Humanity!!

The Chinese team entered the stadium and got a standing ovation from the whole stadium - brought some tears from my eyes!!

Haha, Brother Mate, how many events did you watch live at the venue? I was really lucky, I went to 5!

1. Indoor Valley Ball at the Entertainment Centre (on the night Cathy Freeman won the 400M, I had to go outside in the drink area to watch it live on TV with the other tech crews)

2. Men's Basketball - US Dream Team

3. Womens Basketball - the Australian Opals

4. A morning session of track and fields in the Stadium but only heats

5. Football final between Spain and Cameroon, Cameroon won in penalty shoot outs.

It was a great experience for me and my family.

While I don't have the sensational moments you have with Olympic Games, I do enjoy watching the Chinese athletes winning medals in events like diving, gymnastics, swimming etc. It makes me proud being a chinese though I don't condone the practices of isolated athletes of taking prohibited drugs to enhance performances.

The two diving queens who are good looking (Fu Ming Ha and Kwok Jing Jing) have now married (or in the course of doing so for Kwok Jing Jing) to the former Financial Secretary of Hong Kong and the grandson of the deceased chinese tycoon, Fok Ying Tung who was also a chinese patriot.

I still recall I like Fu Ming Ha so much (both her diving skills and her very pretty look) that I was quite jealous when I read the news that she had decided to marry Leung Kam Chung who is twenty something years her senior but the marriage seems to work out very good so far.

Yes, Fu Ming Xia and Guo JingJing were both indeed China's National Treasures:

Mine was the Sydney Olympics - tickets were $10 to all the women's baseball games. My mates and I bought tickets to all the games with Japan and South Korea in them!! You should have seen the cheerleaders in the stands ... Punted after every game those 2 weeks!!!
