I know how you feel, Serg.... especially when you think "Fxxx, I could have used this amount of money for punting!!".

I am normally able to avoid the machine but when I had a few drinks, it's very tempting!! And because you are not sober, you tend to pour more and more money if you don't win.

Machine won't get you cum...

Yep it's a mugs game.

I saw a bloke in USA won $12M and 6 years later was broke and on welfare because he put it all through the pokies !

That would do my head in !

Bro I know how you feel, so many of us with addictive personalities have done this (myself included). This is one of the reasons I have given up drinking for 12 months starting just over 3 months ago. Its helped me alot in many different ways.
I know an owner of a pub and he tells me his machines (approx 30) bring the pub in over 20k every day. When I asked him about payouts he just laughed and said, in the end the house always wins.

I am under the impression that slot machines were set to pay out 85%? of all its intakes, so in a sense, it is not a total lost, some one some where some time will be winning, its just not you.

However, its the casino games or racing that you can just keep losing and not see any lights

Just my 2 cents

I got a friend in my car club who owns millions in Ferrari's Rolls Royce, Bugatti etc. He has a club with pokies. He calls them a tax on stupid people, and he's the taxman. mrcookiemans friend is right.
Bro Lungor, I believe the payout in some places is up about the 90% mark. The thing is, I'm told is that while the machines payout, most of the time people aren't smart enough to walk away when they win, so all the money they win, they put back in, which ends up as profits for the owner.

I was playing the pokies quite regularly for a while at one stage. Never big stakes but I was hooked on them to escape a stressful job. Strangely, I found it therapeutic. However, these machines will drain you dry. I just went cold turkey on them and bascally broke the habit. When I am out for a drink with the boys, I will still join in and play every now and then, but it's all for light hearted fun now

Smart people don't gamble. They have a financial strategy (no matter how little or much they earn).

Adjust your spending to your earnings
Put money aside
Don't buy stuff you don't need (and you don't really need a whole lot)
Sell stuff you don't need. Heaps of people are keen on buying used.
Merge loans if you have any
Negotiate interest and terms on your loans
STOP wasting money on the pokies and seek help if you can't

If you are barely making ends meet you need to review your situation and lower your expenses or increase your income. Move house, work extra hours, sell stuff or what ever it takes.

Too many are complaining about a shitty financial situation that they brought upon them selves. You are the KING in your life and you have the power to change it all.
If you don't understand how money works read a book or seek online. Ignorance is nothing to be ashamed of - no one can know everything - but not educating your self when in need that is to be ashamed of.

Best of luck bro.

You are the very few lucky one, brother bevis!! and just leave it at that.

There was an very old Chinese saying: you lost money because you won money before!!

You will be hooked if you have a big win, hit the jackpot or something and you will be keep going back for more............lol

Lucky you didn't, $50 is a good limit, I wish I can stick to that.............haha

Cheers

That's not necessarily true ! :miao:

If you are in business, you are taking a gamble, there's no sure win in business, although it's a calculated gamble. So all business people are gamblers one way or the other, and they are mostly smart people ! :miao:

Maybe I wasn't being clear enough. When I refer to "gambling" I refer to pokies and casino only. (I understand that you can take the term "gambling" far but in this instance developing a business was not a part of the poster's problem (the poster being Sergaent Brody)

I know what you mean, it's gambling in a casino, or on a poker machine, but still, it's not true, a lot of real gamblers are smart people, like Kerry Packer, the famous gambler ! I'm sure Bro Sergaent Brody is a smart person too. Gambling is just a bad addiction like any other bad addictions we all have one way or the other, it doesn't reflect the level of one's wisdom ! Nothing personal, just a comment on a comment that's all ! ;)

The best way to quit Pokie is go to Casino VIP Pokie room, and watch the people losing hundres of grams everyday.
There is a Chinese man who usually come with a boy standing next to him just putting the green notes into the machine. Very exciting. The single bet he plays is $500 per run..

agree, specially in suburn bar, I believe that the local owner has adjust the pay rate on the machines.. and lots of bars reserve the machines for big customers, sometimes more than 1 machines for several days, and waiting for them to pure money in that no one else touch them, it is so bloody ugly.
