From the shop's perspective, asking have you been have before and get a positive answer means the girls can ask for extra without any concern. From time to time we do have first time customers come here just for massage and nothing else. The shops make the same amount of profit either way but the girls would not be too happy to do that. For new customers never come before we will try arranging more experienced staff (or someone less care about getting the extra every single time) to service them. Good ML always know when is the right time to ask the right question or don't bother asking at all if a customer is clearly not interested.

But for punters if you can tell the receptionist you know the rules that will make a big difference.
