How was Bangkok? Was thinking of going in April but not sure with all the political unrest happening. Did you witness much of the protest action?

I was in BKK early March. It was very easy to avoid any protests. Stay away from large gatherings and I was fine. You need to make your own decision for yourself though.

Hi mate, I am a local. I don't like to go to the punt with Thai friends due to my personal reason. If you would like to have a local friend to go with, just lemme know.

For our protest problem, you don't have to worry about that at all. It is totally safe right now. The protest area is pretty much stuffed at one single area inside the Lumphini park.

In the worst case scenario, Thais are really concern about being polite and helpful to foreigners, you will definitely get a lot of help here.
