Prostitute set alight on Sydney street

A prostitute is in a critical condition with severe burns after being set alight overnight on her way to an inner Sydney brothel.

Police say a man in a dark hoodie followed the woman down a laneway at Chippendale just before 10:00pm (AEDT).

They say bystanders watched in shock as he set the 33-year-old alight.

The man ran away as the flames spread over her head, face, chest and arms.

Colleagues at a brothel on nearby Regent Street heard the woman screaming and doused her with water.

Terrible thing to do to a person. The dude must be psychotic or have serious vengeance on his mind but I can't think of anything she could have done to warrant that. Unless she murdered his kid or some shit. Hopefully she can recover. This is a dangerous biz

Im not sure it's related to her profession as a prostitute but we shall find out when they catch the guy. It could technically happen to any chick who offended a psycho but I guess the chance is higher in this biz

Pretty sure she didn't have bf. plus no need for bf to be so public. I bet its a customer she refussed to date. Would be know to her and would bet more than likely been a regular of late. Yeah come to think of it, this is quite likely. The guy chose to attack her at her place of work. He prolly only knew this place to find her. If it is her bf or someone she knows well, he could have done it near her home.
