Anyone nervous about this and punting?
Cases seem to be “exploding” in nsw with +400 of these out in the community

Is anyone else a bit concerned with ongoing punting

There will always be risks with P4P: STD's, falling off a rickety massage table, stumbling on narrow stairs, getting your brains fucked out, being caught by your significant other, the dreaded fundus depletus when you have a severe case of penile erectus... You could also be hit by a bus while crossing the street (especially if you're a visitor inclined to look the wrong way), be an early case of a particularly virulent virus, succumb to a heart attack due to an unseen genetic defect. If it bothers you, stay home. Nothing in life is free.

Quite a few of the WLs are getting vaccinated for it.

If you go to a govt clinic they’re promoting people in high risk groups to take the vaccine.

Eligible people for primary preventative vaccination (PPV) include:

Sexually active gay, bisexual or other men who have sex with men.

Sexually active transgender and gender diverse people, if at risk of mpox exposure.

Sex workers, particularly those whose clients are at risk of mpox exposure.

Sexual partners (including anonymous or intimate contacts) of the above groups.

Sex-on-premises venue staff and attendees.

Attendees…

So the govt advises.

Gives a new meaning to "I'll show you mine if you show me yours...", shot record that is.

The embarrassing thing about catching it is, instead of an ambulance to take you to the hospital, they send a Taronga Zoo van with a primatologist and a dart gun.

If it's a basic case, yes. But if it's the dreaded Black Monkeypox, you know that island off the coast that is forbidden to all humans as it's a nature preserve? Yes, it is a protected preserve, but it's also a black site quarantine station for the Black Pox. You stay there, incomunicado, until a cure is found. Holdover from the Vietnam war and the black syph. Believe it, I read it on the internet.

Monkey pox, syphilis, ghonorreah, chlamydia, genital warts, pubic lice, hepatitis, herpes, typhoid, cholera, the black plague etc shouldn't be of concern BUT coronavirus, that's a different animal......it's the worst fucken thing you can get.

I mean we locked down the planet and isolated cities, countries and continents for nearly 2 fucken years, the planet was literally at stand still. We spent trillions of dollars trying to deal with the shit and we still ran out of toilet paper. We fucked up a ton of industries, closed down a ton of businesses, and financially propped up whatever was left. We couldn't travel, cross a border, enter a plane or a building without a vaccination certificate. If you sneezed you got the 3rd degree and treated like a fucken criminal. Even if you had leprosy, and your skin was falling off while spewing blood nobody gave a fuck, but coronavirus......no fucken way Jose!

A valid rant Hedon. We did lose a couple of years of our lives after all.

We lost a lot more than a couple of years bro. Punting post-COVID ain't the same as pre-COVID.
It also goes to show that societies and people aren't as free as they thought they were.

Years, hey, you still have more. Lives, only get one, and Covid finished several I knew. And they weren't old.

Yep, people lost their lives which is always sad. We continue to see a loss of life due to other illnesses but the reaction is not quite the same. You may not agree, but do think governments went too far. You are entitled to your opinion though.

You won't fear what you've never experienced. If your gov did a great job and prevented mass death, then of course some will say it wasn't necessary. It's a paradox.

My opinion? No problem me. Why? Because today, too many people are self-centered, selfish, feel entitled, and have no concept of sacrificing for the common good. Like little kids: I want, I want, I want, I don't want, I don't want, I don't want.

Masking? What's the big deal. If you don't want to wear a mask to protect yourself, OK, but how about protecting everybody else from you?

Lockdowns? Why should I have to stay inside? I have friends in the medical profession, and, back then, they told me, first person experience, Hey, Bravo, stay inside, hunker down. This shit is for real. Some do have to be out and about, so why expose them to extra risk for your convenience?

Vaccines? Ever know anybody who's had polio? Seen an iron lung? Not common in my day, still... I'm old enough to have the smallpox scar... Younger generations, no, they have no concept of what that eradicated. Measles, mumps, chickenpox? Rites of childhood passage. Now, vaccines. So what's the big deal? Mumps? Won't make you sterile, just might slow down your swimmers. Great, until you want to have a family. Measles? No big deal, just because it spreads like wildfire, something NSW should know something about. Now, how about when your wife is pregnant, and there's an outbreak because the population has lost herd immunity? No problem, just tell your kid: You can be proud of me. I protected your right to not be vaccinated... by the way, sorry about the birth defects; collateral damage.

Like the soldier who says, "I'm not wearing a flak jak, it's hot, heavy, uncomfortable, and it won't stop a bullet". Yes, it is, and it won't. But when that mortar round hits, and he gets hit by shrapnel, he's the one screaming for "Medic, medic...", exposing others to needless risk. A listening post sounds like a good deal, at least when you're inside the wire, as it gives advance warning. Now if you're on the LP when it gets hit, maybe not so much, but... sacrifice for the common good.

Myself, I had Covid (AR on ISG), despite having all my Covid shots. But no big deal, sick 3 days, the worst was the hives outbreak from the anti-virals. Like my doctor said, vaccine doesn't always prevent you from catching Covid, it prevents you from dying from it. Most of the population is shielded from loading bodies into bags, so it's no big deal...

Recently, I was at a PUBLIC school, running an errand for a friend. While waiting, I pulled out a bag of gorp, snack. A teacher came over, politely, but firmly told me that the grounds were "nut free". Now I could have pointed out this was a PUBLIC school, I'm a taxpayer, I'm not allergic to nuts, no one was near me, what's the problem? I'm hungry. But obviously I put the gorp away, small sacrifice for, not quite the common, but for someone's, other than me, possible good. I'm not old enough to be of the greatest generation, but certainly that spirit and attitude is lacking these days.

So yes, drastic times call for drastic measures. I'll side with GoldfishMan, even if I'm more extreme. Since individuals couldn't be trusted to sacrifice for the common good voluntarily, government had to step in to make it mandatory.

Bottom line: if there are parallel universes, maybe in one, hard mandatory measure weren't taken. THAT outcome, I don't know. What I DO know, I'm glad I was in this one. And yes, maybe a lemming, but I just had the most recent Covid booster... no ill effects, no ill effects, no ill effects, no il... uhhhh
