View Full Version : Question If nearly ALL sexually active people eventually get infected with HSV2 (genital warts)...

How come I've never seen a WL or ML with them?
I've never seen a hooker with warts, has anyone else encountered this or gotten HSV2 (warts) from a hooker? Give me your STD stories from punting?

Once you get HSV2 you have it for life, so do you still keep punting and just manage the symptoms? or how does it work?

You're confusing STIs there. Genital warts are caused by HPV, HSV2 (and HSV1) cause herpes.

The body will generally fight off HPV, and it will clear the infection in 1-2 years. Not all strains of HPV cause genital warts, and not all people present with genital warts. Australian girls are generally given the HPV vaccine that covers the main strains that cause warts, though some strains of HPV may cause cancer down the line. Having said that, HPV is common to the point that you don't test for it.

HSV2 and HSV1 cause herpes, and its the one that you're stuck with for life. They estimate about 1/8 people have the virus, though not everyone presents with sores. Transmission risk is highest from just before an sore outbreak up until the sores scab over, though transmission risk still occurs even without symptoms. Anti-virals reduce the risk of transmission, but it is recommended that all sexual contact is with protection to best prevent transmission. The scary thing is you generally don't think about the cold sores that you had when you were a kid that you don't get anymore (herpes sores are less likely the longer you've had the virus), and so there is a risk of HSV1 transmission from oral.

Ideally if you have HSV1 or HSV2 you'd stop punting to prevent spreading it to WL/MLs, but when you don't have sores, no one would know...💀

I have HSV2 and I manage the symptoms . I was very concerned about STIs but since getting quite a few now , think it's no big deal .

WLs who have HSV continue to work as usual . I avoid places with red lights , they make HSV harder to notice and my symptoms are unnoticeable under red light , so I wouldn't trust an examination safe.

When I have outbreaks , I wait until the symptoms clear the go on another punt.

In another thread, you said that you only do HJ after your HSV diagnosis - is that still the case?

No, I'm back on the horse. Symptoms are down, punting is up!
